Carry On Blogging

Each time I get close to reaching the media storage limit on my current free blog spot, I ask myself, Do I still want to continue blogging?. I waffled back and forth many times, thinking:

  • Do I have the time?
  • Do I have the energy?
  • Do I have the content?

Not sure how each of you will answer these questions for me, but I eventually answered Yes, Yes and YES and Here We Are.

If you have followed me from my previous site – THANKS for sticking with me

If you are a new follower – THANKS for putting your faith in me

If you are a first time visiter who is not yet sure if they should follow, like or comment, I understand. – THANKS for stopping by.

Carry on blogging

a little voice said to me.

I looked all around

to see where the voice came from.

I was the only one there.

Not much to tell. After working for 3 companies over 43+ years (38 years 7 months with my last company), I finally got that promotion I had waited my entire career for……retirement. I have been exploring this new career for the past 7+ years and while it is not always exciting, the chance to do what I want for myself and my family instead of what my company wants has been very fulfilling. Early on, there was a long list of projects in my “to-do” hopper and I attacked these projects with a vengeance for the first 9 months of retirement. Eventually, my brain told me that this was not what retirement was about, so it took me another 5 months before my industriousness again took over and I attacked another line of projects, this time somewhat shorter and less complicated, as well as many new projects related to the family weddings in 2016. After going hard for 6 weeks and 3 weddings, my body was telling me to relax, then the flu bug hit and as soon as that was done with me, my sciatic acted up. No rest for the wicked. In 2020 and 2021, the Covid 19 pandemic changed the whole retirement gig. I was lucky to not be still working, for sure. I enjoy photography, gardening, working with my hands, walking, cycling, skiing, travelling, reading and creating special photo and video productions obtained in my first pastime. I may never become wealthy in any of these pursuits, but I already feel I am rich in life experiences far beyond any expectation.

  1. Sometimes I think it feels like some of us drop off. Your photography is always appreciated. For me I generally post once every five to seven days as I am also submitting work for publication. It is difficult to keep up with people who post every other day or even more often. I think that must be discouraging to some people. I think you should definitely keep going. Sending hugs 🤗 and flowers 💐 to celebrate your continuing to blog. ❤️ Joni

    1. No worries Joni. Happy to have you read what you can. On my first blog, I posted every day while travelling and that was a chore. Once I got home it tapered off. Now, my post run daily, but I time shift everything an try to keep my word count down so it is not too long a read. Glad you like the photos. I had some followers tell me blogs should not contain more than one photo. Thanks for the encouragement and reading Joni. Hugs back at you. Allan 🤗🤗

      1. I love all the photographs. Some people who sell their work want to use just a couple and I understand that. Still I see it as a gift and I would never steal anyone’s work. I think bloggers have a code of ethics and respect each other’s work. If I read every body I followed even once a week I could never get anything else done. Let alone write and submit work. I like your blogs exactly the way they are. Big hugs right back at you both. ❤️🤗

      2. I have seen my photos on some of the photos sites Alamay, etc. That is when I stopped submitting them in full res and applied my tag. Thanks for your kind words Joni. Allan 🤗❤

      3. Oh that is terrible. I am sorry. That is copyright infringement. I have never heard of Alamay before. I use Pexels and unsplashed. I like to copy their tag so their work can easily be seen. I am sorry that is too bad. I do enjoy your work but stealing others work is not ok. You are welcome Allan. 🤗🤗
