In the middle of a hot spell, we pondered what to do to get out and about. It would be too hot and sunny in the late morning/early afternoon to walk or cycle far, but, we couldn’t just sit around all day, avoiding this spell of good weather.
Not much to tell. After working for 3 companies over 43+ years (38 years 7 months with my last company), I finally got that promotion I had waited my entire career for……retirement.
I have been exploring this new career for the past 7+ years and while it is not always exciting, the chance to do what I want for myself and my family instead of what my company wants has been very fulfilling. Early on, there was a long list of projects in my “to-do” hopper and I attacked these projects with a vengeance for the first 9 months of retirement. Eventually, my brain told me that this was not what retirement was about, so it took me another 5 months before my industriousness again took over and I attacked another line of projects, this time somewhat shorter and less complicated, as well as many new projects related to the family weddings in 2016. After going hard for 6 weeks and 3 weddings, my body was telling me to relax, then the flu bug hit and as soon as that was done with me, my sciatic acted up. No rest for the wicked. In 2020 and 2021, the Covid 19 pandemic changed the whole retirement gig. I was lucky to not be still working, for sure.
I enjoy photography, gardening, working with my hands, walking, cycling, skiing, travelling, reading and creating special photo and video productions obtained in my first pastime. I may never become wealthy in any of these pursuits, but I already feel I am rich in life experiences far beyond any expectation.

Looks like the perfect day to ride! I can’t help but think Benji the Wonder Dog would like to come along in a basket in the front of your bike 🙂
It was eerily calm with so many beautiful reflections. Benji would have enjoyed it for sure. Too bad he lives so far away. Thanks for reading Lyssy. Allan
I love your Cat in the Hat tree! Definitely some great spots to go to reflect. Lately, I have been reflecting in the back yard since I can’t manage an outing rn. It’s still very therapeutic
Ah man I want that day instead of today’s howling winds and raging snow! My favourite ride is to do from the top to the bottom bridges of the city. It’s a stellar ride that is mostly trail but a bit of road. Bernie
I hear you. It has been snowing here for 6 days. Enough already. We have likely walked that route in S’toon, but never ridden it. That would be a pretty ride for sure. Stay warm Bernie. Allan
Just off to shovel the latest snow. Our patio area is pretty snowed in! At least the wind died down. If you ever get to Saskatoon be sure to message me and Ron and I would met you to ride the trails. Bernie
Whoa, we are back in summer, I didn’t see that coming. Ugh these damn trucks. They are everywhere, how I would love to see them eliminated from this world. The water looked absolutely pristine that day with marvellous reflections from all angles.
After my Analogue adventures, I had some catching up to do. Right now, I am enjoying the warm photos as winter has arrived. The ponds were mirrors that morning and provided great photo opportunities. Thanks for reading Leighton. Allan
I would have to agree. When we moved here 31 years ago, we wondered what we were doing. Now, we would never think of moving. Thanks for reading Scott. Allan

It got lower and lower as the cones got bigger. I agree. Reflecting is good. Sometimes life and circumstance make us slow down. get well soon. Allan

You live in a very nice area. I’m hoping to get a bit more rural some day, but I wouldn’t mind living in a town like yours, either. Great pics… again.
