Walk Toward the Light

All photos taken August 30, 2022.

As has frequently happened in the past, the media section of my free Photo Drop WordPress site is too full of photos to add new posts. I still have an Analogue Adventures series in the Photo Drop blog spot, but will delay it while I post about more recent adventures. The link will be updated in my Picture This posts. I will let you know when the next Analogue series starts. Thanks for coming along. Oh, an by the way, WordPress free sites now only come with 1 Gig media storage, rather than 3 Gigs. Wahhhh.

Our walks in Bunchberry seem to be getting earlier and earlier. Not a bad thing, as it is amazing what you see as the sun’s rise light the landscape.

Not much to tell. After working for 3 companies over 43+ years (38 years 7 months with my last company), I finally got that promotion I had waited my entire career for……retirement. I have been exploring this new career for the past 7+ years and while it is not always exciting, the chance to do what I want for myself and my family instead of what my company wants has been very fulfilling. Early on, there was a long list of projects in my “to-do” hopper and I attacked these projects with a vengeance for the first 9 months of retirement. Eventually, my brain told me that this was not what retirement was about, so it took me another 5 months before my industriousness again took over and I attacked another line of projects, this time somewhat shorter and less complicated, as well as many new projects related to the family weddings in 2016. After going hard for 6 weeks and 3 weddings, my body was telling me to relax, then the flu bug hit and as soon as that was done with me, my sciatic acted up. No rest for the wicked. In 2020 and 2021, the Covid 19 pandemic changed the whole retirement gig. I was lucky to not be still working, for sure. I enjoy photography, gardening, working with my hands, walking, cycling, skiing, travelling, reading and creating special photo and video productions obtained in my first pastime. I may never become wealthy in any of these pursuits, but I already feel I am rich in life experiences far beyond any expectation.

  1. I wasn’t aware that WordPress-free sites now only come with 1 Gig media storage, rather than 3 Gigs, that’s not much to work with. I am currently on the WordPress Premium plan which gives me 13GB storage and I only have to pay 8 euros a month which is almost the price you pay for a pint of beer in a pub.

    1. Yeah. The change has been within the last year, so not impressed. They are also doing the hard sell to get me to take a paid plan. Trouble is, on a paid plan, you lose access if you ever stop paying. The fee sites are around forever. Thanks for reading Aiva. Allan

  2. I wish I had the discipline for early morning walks. I know once you get up and about, the rewards are great. But I/we so rarely manage to pull our fingers out. The light, colours, shadows and shades of your shots serve as extra proof that the early bird catches the worm. The sunlit meadow is awesome Allan, as are those glistening, ominous webs. If reincarnation were really a thing, I feel we could all do a lot worse than coming back as a Bohemian Waxwing.

    1. No worries being an early riser here. Staying in bed past 5:30/6 AM is the big issue. We typically wait until after the rush hour traffic is over before going, but on the August mornings we went early and were rewarded. That was our last chance to walk at BBM until October 31. Bohemian Waxwings are crazy to watch…they have lots of friends around…they go everywhere together…they do precision aerobatic flying…and every one speaks the same language. Thanks for reading Leighton. Allan

    1. Using different muscles than normal can be a problem. We walked in deep snow this past week and we both felt aches and pains where we usually don’t. Enjoy your family time Lyssy and careful on the inclines. Thanks for reading. Allan
