Today, it warmed up from – 26 C (15 below F) to -18C (0 F). WhoooHoooo! Heat Wave. There was also a wind chill, but you don’t feel colder from the wind, unless, of course, you are a human being.
Not much to tell. After working for 3 companies over 43+ years (38 years 7 months with my last company), I finally got that promotion I had waited my entire career for……retirement.
I have been exploring this new career for the past 7+ years and while it is not always exciting, the chance to do what I want for myself and my family instead of what my company wants has been very fulfilling. Early on, there was a long list of projects in my “to-do” hopper and I attacked these projects with a vengeance for the first 9 months of retirement. Eventually, my brain told me that this was not what retirement was about, so it took me another 5 months before my industriousness again took over and I attacked another line of projects, this time somewhat shorter and less complicated, as well as many new projects related to the family weddings in 2016. After going hard for 6 weeks and 3 weddings, my body was telling me to relax, then the flu bug hit and as soon as that was done with me, my sciatic acted up. No rest for the wicked. In 2020 and 2021, the Covid 19 pandemic changed the whole retirement gig. I was lucky to not be still working, for sure.
I enjoy photography, gardening, working with my hands, walking, cycling, skiing, travelling, reading and creating special photo and video productions obtained in my first pastime. I may never become wealthy in any of these pursuits, but I already feel I am rich in life experiences far beyond any expectation.

Winter is the season that offers an immense sense of magic and wonder. While yes, it is very cold – often to the point where you can’t feel your fingers and toes, the season also brings along with it breathtaking snowy landscapes, the best outdoor activities, fun date ideas and most importantly an excuse to indulge in all of the comfort food your heart desires (in an effort to keep warm, of course.) Thanks for sharing such a wonderful collection of beautiful snow photos, Allan 🙂 Cheers, Aiva xx
Winter gives as much as it takes and I have had a few tingly finger moments this season. But overall, we have managed tom stay warm while hiking and walking by choosing the right clothing. And afternoon coffee tastes just a little bit better after a cold walk. Thanks for reading Aiva. How is Ericeira doing with her case of chicken pox? Hope all is well. Allan
She’s feeling much better, Allan, thank you. She’s more upset about not seeing her school friends and mot being able to attend het singing and swimming classes, but that shall pass. Easter break starts this Friday, and kids are off for two weeks 😊
Thanks Leighton. I seldom carry my camera on our local walks anymore, but this seemed like a good day to do it. That snowball seemed almost too perfect. I think aliens had a hand in it. Thanks for reading and commenting. Allan
If we waited for warm weather in winter, we might never get outside to see the beauty. Like you say, At least it was sunny…and…there were no mosquitoes. Thanks for reading Lyssy. Have a great week. Allan
I just can’t figure out the snowball. At that point in the winter, had it been warm enough to make it?As you know, I am a HUGE fan of blue skies and fresh white snow. One can always dress for the cold.
Me neither. I’d say it was left there by aliens. There had been no real warmth or melting snow to form such a snow ball. Perhaps it was left over from the winter festival. Agreed, winter is too long to stay stuck indoors. Thanks for reading Bernie. Allan

Thanks Tyler. Not sure how that snowball was made, but it does not look manmade. Thanks for reading and commenting. Allan
